Silverlake - Managed Services Centre - OS/400 Maintenance and Support

With IBM dropping support for older versions of OS/400 at what seems like an ever-increasing rate, insuring you remain on a supported release has never been more important. Support from IBM can be difficult obtain even if you are on the latest release, but not on the latest cumulative PTF pack. You will often be advised that the problem you are reporting may have been fixed in the last cumulative PTF pack release.

 

OS/400 upgrades are becoming more complex with many hours of planning and research required before you can upgrade to the next version of OS/400. At V5R1 IBM have dropped support for over 28 hardware and 38 software products including support for the INS (integrated Netfinity Server) and AS/400 sharing the same LAN card. There are performance implications for a number of other hardware products too.

 

Silverlakes OS/400 maintenance service is all about risk reduction. The service starts with a detailed questionnaire that provides us with all the information we need to plan your upgrade effectively. We assume nothing; we review hardware, software and the customisation of IBM objects. Anything you do not know we find out as part of our on-site review. Any issues or problems revealed during this process are discussed with you at the earliest opportunity. On completion of our research and validation process we then plan your upgrade taking into account your specific system set-up and customisation. The upgrade takes place at your convenience and after we have completed the upgrade we carry out testing of all critical system functions.

 

Twice a year we will also load the latest cumulative PTF pack, which makes three cumulative pack loads per year including the one we complete as part of the OS/400 upgrade.

 

In addition to the OS/400 maintenance we will also accept four support requests per month via email for all OS/400 related issues or questions.

 

Also as part of this service we supply you with a licensed version of Restricted State Manager, our software utility that allows you to complete full system saves without the need for staff to be in attendance.
