Silverlake :: Backing up your spool files
Silverlake - Output Centre - Backing up your spool files

Most iSeries users assume that when you save an output queue to a save file or to magnetic media, the data in the output queue is saved, too. But it is not: Spooled data in output queues is not saved during a SAVLIB (Save Library) or SAVOBJ (Save Object) operation.

Silverlake have a utility that allows you to do just that. With a number of selection criteria you can define output queues, users, spool files by date etc, to save. The utility comes with a number of commands that you can include in your backup routine to insure your business critical reports or invoices are secured off line. The utility also has a number of restore options available.

The catalogue system retains save information on spool files. This enables inquiries to be run in order to locate archived reports.

Solution design and implementation services are available.
